Default can I set up a new default for pen tool

    Hi everybody

I am using Illustrator 10 (win)

When I create a new file, the pen tool always is 1 point black in stroke, and white in fill.

How can I create a new default as my custom for the pen tool ?

    Thanks for advance

    teacher,

would create a graphic style library for different stroke weights. You'll get a simple one click solution.

You can also create templates where you set the tool perameters as you'd like them for that particular opening.

    Hi BobHill

I like your idea, I spend hours to study but I still don't know how to create a template.

If you don't mind, please tell me some more into details.

    Thank you for advance.

The Template format isn't available until version CS, but you can still do it as a standard .ai file. Just open a new file and set it up as you'd like one to open next time. Save As to "Template description.ai". Most of the items you set should stay set for this file, such as a stroke weight, color fill/stroke, font choice, etc.

Just remember that in version 10.0.3 since the template is a standard file, if you wish to keep it as a template, as soon as you open "Template description.ai" you want to do a Save As to the filename you wish the new document to be, or you'll lose the "purity" of the template. This is not true of a "real" template that you get with Illustrator CS.

Just to be save, set the template file to read only in windows.

Good point, Philip You can open it and do a Save As, but not a Save from a Read Only.
