Can I trim db2diag.log entries while instance is online? - IBM DB2

DB2 v7 FP9 Red Hat Linux 7.3 DB21085I Instance "oltp" uses DB2 code release "SQL07027" with level identifier "03080105" and informational tokens "DB2 v7.1.0.77", "s030303" and "U486944". I would like to trim some entries from my db2diag.log, which has become quite large and is eating up too much disk space in that partition. Can I trim entries in db2diag.log and save my changes while the instance is online? Or in other words: Does DB2 keep an open file pointer to the file, or does it close the file pointer when its done writing to it? TIA Allen...

No, there is no file pointer kept open. You can prune away to your
    heart's content.

Tar everything in dump directory (including db2diag.log) and move
elsewhere daily. DB2 is not affected.

One other way around is that you can move your diaglog to backup drives.
Db2 will automatically creates new db2diag.log if you move/delete existing
file while instance is running or stopped.
