Can I use Flash 5 to edit .SWF files, if so how?
This has me baffled. I can't even see how to edit or load properly an .SWF
file with Flash - its my first attempt at using .SWF files. I made a FLash
movie - simple animation - about 3 years ago, have not touched it since, to be
honest
Got enough web work with standard HTML
I also have Director - version 8, Dreamweaver 4 and Dereamweaver Ultradev, and
Fireworks 3 if they are of use here
TemplateMonster.com provided the template, complete with .SWF Flash movie
images that I need to modify. But, getting ht emodification process under way
is proving to be complex
Can any one offer advice please
THanks in advnace

You can load the .swf in flash but you cannot edit it. You will need the .fla file to edit it.

You can't edit .swf files, you need the actual source (.fla) file.
Flash compiles .fla files and outputs the compressed .swf file, but
can't do the reverse!

Re: Can I use Flash 5 to edit .SWF files, if so how?
A determined hacker may be able to filch some graphics or code from a SWF,
otherwise SWFs are not editable. If you received SWFs as part of a template,
look at your instructions because they would not ask you to do what you are
trying to do

Re: Can I use Flash 5 to edit .SWF files, if so how?
As far as I know the only way you can modify a *.swf file is to us a
application that can extract its contents. This is unsupported by Macromedia
and do not support the Software that lets you extract the .swf content because
it would help rip off mine and many others work. Basically it is a *.swf
decompiler you want. They don't always work, probably most are out dated and
you'd get no help in these forums in support of it, but here is the application
you'd want to purchase, or something similar
