Default Re: Can move my table

There is *so* much you are doing wrong, it is hard to confine an answer.

    1. You are using an HTML authoring system without really knowing anything
    about HTML
    2. You are using HTML markup written by some external product (Microsoft
    Word?)
    3. You are trying to embed fonts in the page
    4. You are using points (a print metric) to size pixel-based characters
    5. But the real problem is that you are trying to work with HTML tables as
if you were editing a page in Microsoft Word. That's just not a good
    approach to tables.

With HTML pages, you can be much more precise about tables than dragging
borders. But that's for later. The first thing you have to do is to clean
this page up, and get rid of all the 'scruff'.

Where did that page come from? How did you bring it into Dreamweaver?

Okay, yes, I do not know much when it comes to HTML (I am an animator). No
    arguement there.

I did not want to start from scratch (which I probably should have done), so I
found a template online and modified it to suit my tastes. I suppose what I
need is a list of everything that's wrong with the page and I'll go through,
one by one, and correct them. I've never worked with tables too much, so there
    behavior is confusing and frustrating.

I've been using the design view (mostly) in Dreamweaver to edit my pages,
which seems very much like Word. I don't know the original program used to
create this page; as I said, I just grabbed it as a template.

But I do have one question, and don't take this the wrong way, it is a truly
straight question: You said "1. You are using an HTML authoring system without
really knowing anything about HTML"... How can a user without much knowledge of
HTML write HTML without using an authoring program? It seems a heck of a lot
better then Notepad... I think what I need is that list I mentioned. That will
give me some direction and I will learn a lot by researching the correct ways
to write my code per your advice. It'll at least give me someplace to start.

I appreciate your help, I really do.

    Thanks,
    Phillip

It *is* a bit of a tautology, no? The trick is to author your HTML at the
same time as you read about HTML and look at your code view. The three will
'collaborate' to accelerate your progress up the learning curve's ramp.

So, how can we help you solve your current problems with this page?

Okay, thanks, I feel a little better.. :) I guess what I'm asking is how to i
set up a page where there's two columns, links on the left, content on right.
Most of the code i've seen looks like the code above. there's got to be an
simple way to make it easily adjustable.

i'm talking about style sheets aren't i? could you help with that?

    Thanks!
