Can no longer launch FH 2004 MXa (Mac OS X.3.4)
I don't know what happened but now I can't launch FH 2004 MXa or any other
programs in the 2004 Studio (Flash, Fireworks, etc). When I attempt to launch
FH or any documents I created with it, I get a dialog that says "FreeHand MX
requires that you type in your password". In the details pane it shows that
the 'requested right' is for 'system.privilege.admin'. I type in my admin
password and it just repeats over and over asking for me to enter my password.
The same thing happens with Dreamweaver and Fireworks. I CAN, however, open my
non-2004 Macromedia apps (FreeHand 11.0).
I've restarted, fixed permissions (followed by another restart), and don't
know what to do. I'm guessing this is system related as I've seen dialogs come
up when launching non-Macromedia apps saying something to the effect of 'this
document will open the program ___ for the first time' when I know for a fact
that it's not. The problem is that the other apps will still open, whereas
Macromedia 2004 apps will not. Please help me get this running again!
Thanks

Re: Can no longer launch FH 2004 MXa (Mac OS X.3.
A couple of things. When you single-click on the Freehand app and Get Info,
make sure the permissions are set properly (Read & Write)
You may need to open your keychain and fix (or delete) something (path is:
Library/Keychains)
Have you run Disk Warrior or the unix file system check (fsck) utility?
(restart with the command-S keys pressed. At the prompt follow the directions
at the blinking cursor: fsck -y, or to 'force' an uncooperative machine, fsck
-f. If it finds and repairs something, run it again until your machine comes up
clean, then type: reboot.
If non of this works, a complete reinstall of the MX apps, then the updaters,
then re-run Repair Permissions might be in order.
You might also post this in the forums at osxfaq.com.

Have you made any changes to your system software? If so, the 'Hot fix'
might cure your ills. (Watch text wrap.)
