can not connect to MySQL from DMX 2004

Hi
I am trying to connect to a mysql database.

My system set up is
windows xp professional
IIS v5.0
MySQL V4.1
PHP V4.3.6
PHPMYADMIN 2.6.2
MySQL ODBC 3.51

I can connect to phpmyadmin and see my sql database.
I can handcode php and connect to my database.

My connection information is ;
connection name: conndan
MySQL Server: localhost
password:*************
database:ijdb

I can not get DMX2004 to connect to it I get the following error message.

A server timeout has occured. Here are the possible reasons:
1) Please make sure the server is up and running.
2) Please verify that the ODBC DSN exists on the testing server.

Any suggestions?

Sometimes php with windows is a little flakey. Have you made sure this running
to test it create a new php page in wwwroot folder with the following code:

<?php phpinfo(); ?>

Save the file with the name phpinfo.php and check it in a browser.

If you see a long message stating the version of php using you'll know php is
working.

You can test a db connection with the following code:
<?php
$connection = mysql_connect("localhost", "root", "")
of die("Sorry -- unable to connect to MySQL");
echo("Congratulations - you connected to MySQL");
?>

the root and "" are for your username and password.

Also check the username and password on the MySQL database.

Thanks for your response,

I tried the connection script and it connects fine to mysql.

I also ran the phpinfo and that also shows php working fine.

I aready have a asp site connected to an access db running on local host and I
am wondering if there is a conflict between this and running mysql which
dreamweaver cant resolve and is thus giving me the timeout error.

What do you think ?
any other suggestions greatfully recieved.
