Can not ftp from Dreamweaver 8 to 1&1 web hosting
I use Dreamweaver 8 to create html websites.
I have two different ISP's. Troy Cable is a local ISP and I am able to connect
via Dreamweaver's "Connect To Remote Host" button, which is above all of the
files to the right. I then am able to select the file and click on the blue
arrow to upload the file.
But when i connect with 1&1 web hosting, I do get connected and am able to see
my files on their server, but i can not see any of the icons such as "Get
Files" "Put Files" and all of those that are normally on that row.
Thus, the only way I have been able to upload files on 1&1 is through dragging
and dropping, which defeats the purpose of Dreamweaver's ftp. It would be much
easier this way.
How can i get Dreamweaver to show that bar with those icons? Do I have
settings incorrect perhaps?
Thanks,
Dan

Are these the same site definitions?
Please go to SITES | Manage Sites..., select the site name, and click on
Edit. Click on the Advanced tab at the top. Tell me the following -
Under LOCAL INFO
----------------------------
The contents of "Local root folder:"
Under REMOTE INFO
----------------------------
The contents of "Host directory:"
The state of "Automatically upload files to server on save"
Under TESTING SERVER
----------------------------
The contents of "Server model:"
The contents of "Access:"
The contents of "Testing server folder:"
The contents of "URL prefix:"
(You may not see these last 3 items if you have "None" in the first)

Re: Can not ftp from Dreamweaver 8 to 1&1 web hosting
Troyrec,
Please take Murray's advice. Because it is VERY IMPORTANT that you define your
site accurately, or it won't work well for you to FTP.
Other important thing about FTP to make it work, you need to know the exact
path to put your files into your hosting account and the right password.
And, be sure to set passive FTP mode as well.

This would not be a general requirement.
