Can Pop ups displace DW slices?
I've combined Flash buttons & animations with Fireworks Popup menus in a Dreamweaver template. I've overcome many of the issues mentioned about popups by using the html version (vs. image). One issue I haven't been able to resolve is that the Popups seem to displace the slices below them... Any thoughts as to why?

Re: Can Pop ups displace DW slices?
Hi,
I'm not sure that I understand your problem. I wonder if it may be the same one that I am experiencing (see entry above).
In a nutshell, when I insert Fireworks html, all other elements in that row (even those in different cells) get slightly displaced upwards. Is this somewhat akin what you're referring to?

Re: Can Pop ups displace DW slices?
Hi Drew,
Your description sounds similar - if not the same. Mine seems to be vertical displacement only,
which in my case causes horizontal (white) lines... http://www.thegraphicsline.com/dfweb/df4/df5.htm
Does this look like what you're experiencing?

Re: Can Pop ups displace DW slices?
Hi,
Actually my problem is a little different. I see that your buttons are created using Flash. Mine are Fireworks generated html.
I took a look at your page in Dreamweaver. Is it not just a matter of filling in the empty cells (which seem to be responsible for your white lines) with appropriate images?
My problem is that when I put a button in cell via Fireworks html, it doesn't sit flush against the bottom of the cell, even when valign=bottom is specified. Go figure..sigh*

Re: Can Pop ups displace DW slices?
Hi,
I also have Fireworks nav below the Flash buttons (in the slices below the tabs).
The white lines came when I added the Fireworks nav, like Fireworks bumped Flash down or something... wierd.
Yours sounds different. I think you were right about the "heavy sigh".
This is hard work ya know, it just looks like fun!
Good luck with it,
Dov

Re: Can Pop ups displace DW slices?
So, it looks like Fireworks generated html is the culprit. I assume that you're also using it in conjunction with Dreamweaver.
I think I may have a solution (at least for my problem), but I'm not sure if I trust it. What I did was cut and past the image (in the design view) and place it in another cell.
That left <script> info, <a> info and comment info in the orginal cell and copied over (only) the <a> html info into the new cell along with the image.
I found that I could delete the <a> left in the old cell, but had to leave the <script> in the old cell (or bring it over and end up with the same problem).
Strange.
I don't know why the scripting info causes this "bump", but I am going to try moving it around (different tables, using more than one button, putting it right in the td tag instead of between them, etc. ) and see what happens. Maybe it just needs to be on the page, period.
Mind you, even if this does turn out to work, I'm not sure that I trust it to do so reliably.
Anyway, Happy Thanksgiving (Canada) and Happy Columbus Day.
