Can't delete files - Mac Applications & Software

IE 5.2.3 crashed while downloading some files and I can't delete the incomplete segments from my HD. If I try to drag them to the trash I get a wordy dialog box about how the file is "being used by another task right now". I have rebuilt permissions, run Dragster, logged in as Root. (I can't get DiskWarrior to run- it appears the CD is damaged). I can change the mod and creation dates on these things, but can't move them to another folder or to the trash. Can anyone help? -- John Etnier Studio Dual http://www.studiodual.com...

    I fixed it. Here's what I did:

-Copied the name of the enclosing folder and then renamed it to a junk
    name.

-Created a new folder with the name of the old one.

-Copied all but the problem files to the new folder

    -Deleted the old, junk-named folder.

    -Emptied the trash.

    I dunno. It worked.

I had this same prob with iTunes.

I was using iTunes to convert a 1G+ aiff to a low birate mono mp3 and it
    choked.

After restarting multiple times, I finally had to boot into OS 9 and
delete the file, because it was always "in use".
