Can't edit text in code view - Macromedia Dynamic HTML

I have several Dreamweaver files where I can edit the text in design view but not in code view. Even when I have the dual code/design view selected the code view text is gray and will not allow editing. Suggestions for how to make the text editable in the code view window?...

    Let's see a page where this is the case, please.

    Murray,

    Thanks for the reply. The following page is one with which I'm having
    difficulty: http://www.nvea.nvusd.k12.ca.us/newsletter.htm

    (If you need the actual page file please let me know how to forward it to you.)

    The page is the child of a template page - but it was not correctly
    detached -

    <html>
    <head>
    <!-- #BeginEditable "doctitle" -->
    <title>NVEA Newsletter</title>
    <!-- #EndEditable -->

    DW thinks that the entire body of the page is non-editable.

    Here's how to solve it. Copy the entire page's code to the clipboard. In
    DW, do FILE | New > Other > Text, and paste all of the code into this text
    doent. Remove the two lines -

    <!-- #BeginEditable "doctitle" -->

    and

    <!-- #EndEditable -->

    and save the page with the same name, i.e.,

    newsletter.htm

    It will now be healed (although completely detached from the template, if
    there even is one any longer).

    Murray,

    Thanks for the suggestion. I ended up taking your advice and applying it
    slightly differently. This is what I did, please let me know if it makes sense
    because it seems to have fixed the problem.
    1) I duplicated the file in question
    2) In the duplicate I deleted the code you mentioned. (I could have searched
    for a year and not know what to look for!)
    3) I saved the duplicate, checked the result, and as soon I was sure it looked
    and acted right I did a save as using the original name.

    Thank again for the help, there were changes I needed to make to graphics file
    names that I could not make in design view, you have saved me hours on time it
    would have taken to recreate these pages from scratch.)
