Can't print high resolution pictures - Adobe Indesign Windows

I'm on a new dell running CS2 Winxpsp2. I am brand new to layout and publishing. When I open a picture in photoshop and re size and adjust the dpi, it looks great. I can print from there with no problem. Still looks great. HOWEVER, when I paste it into Indesign it looks "pixeled" or fuzzy. I assume this is to take up less room in the program. (that is the way it was with Pagemaker). Anyway, when I print, it is the same fuzzy looking image. I've tried the display settings and when I was using pagemaker, as long ...

Anyway, when I print, it is the same fuzzy looking image. I've tried the display settings and when I was using pagemaker, as long as I set the dpi first, then did the resizing (ALWAYS REDUCING)it looked like hell on the page, but printed beautifuly. Now, no go. I can't find information in the tutorials. Is there something I'm missing? a setting maybe?
Could someone explain in step by step how to adj a picture in photoshop then move it to indesign for placement? Sorry...I'm totally new. Thank you so much for the help.

    Jay, you wrote:

We never do that. Always save the file in Photoshop and use the Place command in InDesign to bring in the high rez file.

Copy n paste from Photoshop only brings you a screenshot of the picture. Not what you want.

Always place graphics - never copy/paste.

That being said, your display performance on the view menu will let you view the high resolution images but will not affect printing. ID uses the resolution of the graphic file for printing purposes. On the print dialogue in the graphics section, make sure you change "optimized subsampling" to "all" before you send to the printer.
