Can't see my illustration - Adobe Illustrator Windows

I am using Illustration 10 on a Win XP system. I tried to open a file from about a year ago but I cannot see it. The program thinks it's open, but nothing is displaying. I can see the thumbnail in the open dialog but not the displayed artwork in the program window. I tried saving as a pdf thinking I could resave as an eps but not all the elements appeared in the pdf. The file is large and complex---a book cover (35 MB). I have a Dell Dimensions 8400 with 1 gig of RAM, plenty of computer....

Try pressing the "f" key to switch between viewing modes.

Assuming that all the layers are visible, try selecting all (Ctrl + A) and zoom out to look for the bounding box. I once had a glitch where an unstroked path had somehow gotten way out to one side, and with everything centered on the artboard the artwork was way out to the other side out of view. steve

I have a file given to me monthly by a co worker and for some reason every time she sends it, there's a HUGE box (frame?) covering the whole first page and part of the second, so everything looks blank. I fix it by taking away the text wrap.

I found it by selecting all, and I could see the middle point of the box hanging out there in space...

Philip, thank you so much. I can't believe it was as easy as pressing f. I don't get the view that I'm used to but I can finally see the artwork. I've used Illustrator for years and never had this problem. Very grateful!
