Can 't Test cfm pages - Coldfusion Server Administration

Hi: I've been having a hellova time here. I was running CFMX with Windows XP, and testing my pages thru Macromedia MX. All was running fine. However, the pages stopped working. I uninstalled, and reinstalled and that proved to be a horrific experience. I couldn't get any installation to work such that I was able to run the adminstrator.cfm page. Finally after several attempts, I was able to get the 6.1 MX version to install and I was able to access admin.cfm. However, when I go to test, I cannot test any page that has .cfm extension. Default Can 't Test cfm pages

Hi:
I've been having a hellova time here. I was running CFMX with Windows XP, and
testing my pages thru Macromedia MX. All was running fine. However, the pages
stopped working. I uninstalled, and reinstalled and that proved to be a
horrific experience. I couldn't get any installation to work such that I was
able to run the adminstrator.cfm page. Finally after several attempts, I was
able to get the 6.1 MX version to install and I was able to access admin.cfm.
However, when I go to test, I cannot test any page that has .cfm extension.
http://localhost:8500 is the prefex I use. When I try to load a page that is
..htm, I have no problem. I've tried tons of things...unistalled SP2, different
browsers. Nothing works. I did get a message on netscape 7.2 that my amount
of redirects exceeded.

Any help here would be appreciated

Thanks

Hey Rob,

Sorry you're having so many issues. If you've done a reinstall and you can't
access the CF Admin, you qualify for free installation support -- keep that in
mind. Also, I recommend starting CF from the command-line (cfroot\bin\cfstart)
and watching the boot process. (Technically, everyone should do this when
they're having issues). Ensure that all of the processes are starting without
error (ignore the license.properties error). Specifically, since you're trying
to use the internal web server (port 8500) you want to look for the following
text:

JRun Web Server listening on *:8500

If you do not see that then the internal web server is not started. It is not
automatically started if you did not enable it during the install.

It is peculiar that you can display .htm. Are you saying they display over
port 8500? If so, your .cfm should also display -- they're hard-wired to the
internal web server. Are you sure you're not using an external web server?
