Can we use a 3DS Max file saved as .avi when publishing?

I have a student who made a short movie in 3DS max and ported it to .avi, and then imported it into Director MX. It plays just fine in Director, but when he published his Director file, there was a gap for the duration of the .avi, and then the next part of the app ran. He wants to be able to put this up on a website as an example of his portfolio. This is why I'd like to try to get this working for him.

Any advice on making this work would be appreciated.

    Hello,

Your student would be more successful publishing his/her video on the web using one of these solutions:

    1. Use a QuickTime in Director. Real Video is another possibility.
    2. Use a QuickTime or FLV in Flash MX or Flash MX 2004.

    Regards,
    Karl.
