Re: can you use a tff file font in Illustrator ?
Sure you can, Chris. If it's a standard TTF (all Windows installed fonts should be available to you, as an example) Illustrator should see and be able to use it.

Re: can you use a tff file font in Illustrator ?
But its not. Thats what I need to know, how do I open it. When I click " open with-Illustrator" nothing happens. So is the file corrupted or am I just doing something wrong ?

Re: can you use a tff file font in Illustrator ?
Chris,
I downloaded the Porsche ttf font and installed it in Windows and find that it's a "home made" type font with limited attributes and appears not to be scalable). I'd say that it's not up to standards Illustrator requires. Illustrator is very fussy about the fonts it uses. This font would open in Corel, but all you see is the "T" and blocks, so it's not even atable there. It's a useless font and best kept off your system.

Re: can you use a tff file font in Illustrator ?
Chris,
I just d/l'd to try. The font works fine in both Illustrator 10 and CS, so I
would be surprised if it didn't in v.9.0x
It has the correct Writing Script type but for some unknown reason is
appearing at the bottom of my Roman font listings. Of course it does only
have 26 glyphs in the font - Just the upper-case letter set A-Z, so without
the caps key (or the Shift key) pressed, you are only going to get a series
of black squares.

Re: can you use a tff file font in Illustrator ?
Hmmm. Obviously I didn't read the instructions to use CAPS. But it doesn't show them in Fonts viewer either, except for one size which threw me off too. Now it does work, although it's not script for me, but is a very square block typeface. Thanks Len
