Cannot distort png object

    Default Cannot distort png object

    Illustrator for Windows version 10.

I've saved a page from an Acrobat document as a png file (I can't do it in pdf, PostScript or EPS because the text is in a special font and is deleted when it's opened as a pdf in Illustrator, converted to another font when saved as PostScript and will not save as an EPS). I want to distort the object in perspective but it simply will not allow me to do so: I grab the corner handle using the free transform tool, hold down ctrl-shift-alt and drag; the outline appears to move correctly but when I release the handle the object is unaltered.

Is this a known fault in Illustrator (I can't find any reference to it in the help files or the knowledge base) or am I missing something?

Any advice would be much appreciated!

    Giles,

not a bug, it never worked with raster images. Take the warp effects or envelopes.

    Kurt,

Thanks very much - both for the information about raster images and the suggested alternative (which I think I can make work, at least passably).

Rather than using a predetermined envelope, you can also draw a rectangle over the top of the raster image, select both, then hit Ctrl-Alt-C (Make envelope with top object), after which you can distort as you wish...
