    Default Re: Cannot Force Quit

Peter, Steve's problem is that his internal HD is full. I don't think removing applications from it is a wise solution for recovering free space.

Bob, Steve has an eMac with an 80 GB internal HD. I have no idea if eMacs allow for easy exchanging of internal HDs, but he also said he has plenty of free space in two external HDs -he could copy his full HD in one of them, and still have a lot of free space. Therefore my suggestions for freeing as much space as possible in his internal HD before doing anything. Until he does, and as you say, he is asking for disaster, and he almost had it.

It is also obvious that he has no idea of how to keep an uncluttered, clean HD. Just changing his present one for a larger one would be only a temporary workaround, and he would be soon facing the same problem again.

Some of the things you can do to regain space is to burn your music to CDs and remove it from iTunes, burn your images to CDs/DVDs and remove them from iPhoto, delete emails, particularly those with large enclosures. If you have Garageband installed to deleted the sample files for Garageband. In every other application delete all sample files. Among other things.
