I played with my XF86Config, here is the modified part : Section "InputDevice" Identifier "Mouse1" Driver "mouse" Option "Protocol" "PS/2" Option "Device" "/dev/psaux" Option "Buttons" "6" Option "ZAxisMapping" "5 6" EndSection then, since a swapping of the buttons occur, I tried : xmodmap -e "pointer = ...

    Default cannot paste anymore with the mouse :(

    Greetings,

    I have a cordless keyboard and mouse from logitech and it works nearly
    ok excepted for the following points :

    I cannot paste with pressing the wheel (nothing happens) and is is
    possible to map use the previous and next buttons of firebird or any
    browser to some buttons on the mouse ?

    I played with my XF86Config, here is the modified part :

    Section "InputDevice"
    Identifier "Mouse1"
    Driver "mouse"
    Option "Protocol" "PS/2"
    Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
    Option "Buttons" "6"
    Option "ZAxisMapping" "5 6"
    EndSection

    then, since a swapping of the buttons occur, I tried :

    xmodmap -e "pointer = 1 6 3 2 4 5"

    Since then ,I can scroll up and down but no longer cut & paste :(

    if anyone has any ideas ...

    many thx

    Well, different options here :

    No one knows ?
    no one cares :) ?
    I am in the wrong NG ?
    I should better RTFM ?

    I'll google some more in the meanwhile..

    I had a look at your problem and at a guess your xmodmap line should
    look like:

    xmodmap -e "pointer = 1 2 3 6 4 5"

    I don't have the same mouse so I can't check that.

    Maybe asking in a NG dedicated to X would get you a better result.

    That's always a good idea ;-)

    That's how I got my mouse and all it's buttons working. Eventually :-)

    Have you tried using "imps/2" instead of "ps/2" in your XF86Config?

    I tried so many things, I don't remember :) : I'll give it a try tonight.

    BTW, xmodmap -e "pointer = 1 2 3 6 4 5" gives some result : I can paste
    again but mouse does not scroll :( Moreover, my mouse has 7 buttons,
    (Mouse is Logitech Wireless with side buttons previous and next and
    scroll up and down over and below the weel plus another one )
    I'll try to use them all.

    I think I'll have to tinker some more time than I had forecasted :)

    thanks a lot, If I manage to get things working, I'll post something
    there :)

    After some more Google in the news group, I found a thread which was
    really useful and will try tonight :

    gpm.conf:

    device=/dev/psaux
    responsiveness=
    repeat_type=raw
    type=imps2
    append=""

    xf86config-4:

    Section "InputDevice"
    Identifier "mouseSolution1"
    Driver "mouse"
    Option "CorePointer"
    Option "Device" "/dev/gpmdata"
    Option "Protocol" "ExplorerPS/2"
    Option "Emulate3Buttons" "false"
    Option "ZAxisMapping" "9 10"
    Option "Buttons" "10"
    EndSection

    Section "InputDevice"
    Identifier "mouseSolution2"
    Driver "mouse"
    Option "CorePointer"
    Option "Device" "/dev/gpmdata"
    Option "Protocol" "ImPS/2"
    Option "Emulate3Buttons" "false"
    Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
    Option "Buttons" "8"
    EndSection
