Cannot reactivate a lost user
Have XP Pro installed on a P-4 all up to date. Installed
MSN 8 an hour ago (the customized version for a QWest/MSN
DSL access.) When I rebooted the machine, my normal
username did not show. I booted on as Administrator and
went to control panel, started the User Manager and my
user name was still not visible. Went to "manage
computer" and under user and groups, found under User my
old user name and made sure it was not disabled. It was
not - but I disabled and reenabled it again. there is no
red X showing on the icon.) How do I activate
(reactivate) my old username. If I use "create new
user", it says that that name already exists (which I
could already determine under the manage computer/users
frame.) What gives and why can I not logon using my old
name? More importantly how can I reactivate a user that
is not deactivated. (If on the startup up logon screen I
tell it to use the old name and password, I get a that
name is not on the domain - I am on a workgroup anyway).
