Cannot reset line segments so arrowheads do not appear

I was using the line segment tool to make arrowheads, via drawing a line, then selecting it, then using Effect>Stylize>Add Arrowheads

That worked fine, but now that I know how to add arrowheads, i want to choose a different style (and will eventually need to draw lines without arrowheads) - but whenever i draw a new line segment the arrowheads that were selected for previously always are added to the line... even if "none" is the "choice" under "add arrowheads".

How do I reset the line segment tool so that "Nothing" is added to the lines.

Appearance Palette from the drop down New Art Has Basic Appearance!

Get up close and personal with that Appearance palette. It's where you can double click on the arrowhead appearance of your selected line, and change its ... appearance!
