Default Cannot resize objects in CS with pointer. Possible with "scale" tool.

Whenever I have an object ( box, picture, anything) I cannot resize it with my pointer anymore. It happened all of a sudden. I was working with a lot of short-cuts. I can do it with the "scale" tool, but it is getting really annoying.
Did I hit a combination of keys that locked it or anything?
    Is it a bug?
Before CS, I had Illustrator 10 and it suddenly appeared there, too.
    Thanks, guys.
