Cannot select graphic boxes

    Default Cannot select graphic boxes

I cannot select graphic boxes on my document pages. I created the graphic boxes and text columns on the master pages. I set the graphic boxes to Bring to Front.

The text flows into columns on the document page and wraps around the graphic boxes, but I cannot select the graphic boxes to place photos. I tried holding down Ctrl-Shift and clicking the boxes.

Everything is on one layer. I tried creating a second layer and moving the graphic boxes on the master page to the second layer. It doesn't work. I still cannot select the boxes on the document page.

    Any suggestions? Thank you.

I have InDesign CS, Windows XP.

You might have more success without the shift key.

Try select all ... then shift-click to delete the selections (i.e., text)
you don't want. Does that leave the boxes selected?

    Both your suggestions work!

The "Visual Quickstart Guide" says to hold down Ctrl-Shift, which is why I did so. It never even occurred to me to try Ctrl only.

    Thank you.

That's weird. Ctrl-Shift works for me. That's also what it says to do in the Adobe help screen.

    Stu -

Ctrl-Shift works for me in other cases. I don't know why it doesn't in this case.
