Canon 24-70 with extension tube? - Photography

Anyone here used a Canon 24-70 with a Canon extension tube? I got this lens
the other day before I realised that it had a macro setting - what a
pleasant surprise. Anyway, in order to get closer I was thinking of getting
a Canon extension tube before purchasing a dedicated macro lens. Has anyone
here tried this combination - either an EF12 or EF25?

I use Kenko extension tubes with a 28-70/2.8. Absolutely no problems with this
lens (or any other EF lens I own). The working distance can be quite small,
especially at the wide end, but this is expected. You can buy the Canon tubes,
but most people, including me, would say that they are not a good value for what
you get. There is no glass in extension tubes. Kenkos work perfectly, and you
get a whole set of 3 tubes for the price of 1 Canon tube.

Hi,

I have used the 28-70 with extension tubes and they work really well, the
24-70 is practically the same lens. I use non canon tubes, but as there are
no optics see not reason as to why there would be any difference between
these and the Canon ones.
