Canon 300D now in US shops- where's mine? - Photography

According to posts on rec.photo.digital, some US outlets have the 300D (or Digital Rebel as they pathetically call it there) in stock. Any Australian sightings yet? I know Canon says October, but who believes those marketing guys? -- Benny *******...

    Hi Benny,
We should have them in G&V Imaging (9221-8899) by 1st of October and we're
    taking deposits already.

Is that a Melbourne number ? Does the 300 allow the use of external
flash units like the Metz 60 CT-4 ?

Is that a studio flash, or a hotshoe flash?? You won't get ETTL with
anything other than a Canon EX series flash, but providing the trigger
voltage isn't higher than 6V you can use it as a manual flash - more
than 6V trigger voltage fries the camera flash circuitry...

    Cheers,
    Stuart

Try searching for "wein safe sync" at www.froogle.com - an impressive
Beta service at Google; you can add site:au, but no Australian
    suppliers are found.

    http://froogle.google.com/froogle?q=wein+safe+sync&btnG=Froogle+Search

An expensive item at ~AUD$100. It may be better to just buy a new
    flash.
