    Hi,

Considering the high value of this camera, I would only but it at B&H
    (www.bhphotovideo.com)
If you request a price quote, they will give you $7295 which is about $700
    under list.
Another good place to purchase is J$R (jandr.com). Same price.

You're giving your wife a *1Ds* as a birthday present?
Wow. Now that's what I call true love! :)

I don't suppose you're interested in adopting an 'older' child?

If someone gave me a new Mercedes, I'd sell it & buy a 1Ds & some lenses
    I've been drooling over. ;)

    Hi! Rosita,
After a day of reserach, I went with B&H. I made the purchase
today. Thanks again for your help.

    =====================================
I bought the whole system mid-June from 17th street photo - best
prices and great service. You can ask me for the spreadsheet I put
    together to compare prices.

The camera is heavy, even more so with the 70-200 zoom. BUT WHAT A
CAMERA! Just came back from England. Shot 2000 pics. Had to bring a
laptop to store the day's work. Previous to this, I used the Nikon
F4S, so this is my first time with a pro digital. So much
felxibility. I had to figure out all the options along the way on my
work tour. I feel I have a good grasp of all the features. Next
shoot I'll use the more advanced options. The programed exposure for
Depth of Field priority is great.

Let me know if you have any questions I can answer.

I love my husband and I love this camera.

    Thanks! for the feedback Fran,
I would be intrested in seeing your spreadsheet. it may be only
academic now. I ordered yesterday from B&H. They have not yet sent
me shipping confirmation. How long did it take to recieve yours from
    17th Street Photo?

    Hi Albert,

B&H is run by Orthodox Jews that close shop early Friday. You probably will get
your confirmation Monday. I would not sweat it. You will get your camera.

    Hi,
I don't know about the shipping department but the carriers (UPS, USPS, Fedex)
are closed on Sunday I believe.

Thanks! Everyone who contributed to this thread, esp. Rositio, Fran
and, . The camera arrived yesterday, and the experience with B&H
was a good one. The camera is heavy. Shipping was fast
Communication was courteous. There was no high pressure to buy
additional assessories. I'm satisfied with the pictures. There will
be a little learning cruve moving from the D60.

Are you *sure* you don't want to adopt an 'older' child who'll be
unbelievably grateful for such a birithday gift?
