Default Can't Batch Process-Convert CMYK to Grayscale & Preserve Spot Colors

Acrobat Pro 8.1.2 - Mac OS 10.4.11. Anyone have a way to batch process this request? I have files (many) that have CMYK images and spot color graphics. I want to convert the CMYK to grayscale and preserve the spot colors.

Spot colors are used within INDD and from Illustrator Vector images. Are you saying that Acrobat Pro 9 can batch process these to grayscale and keep the spot colors?

    Hi Jack,

Are these spot colour objects vector or bitmap monotone/duotones?

Acrobat 9 Pro is the way forward (or Enfocus Pitstop) but need more info.

Acrobat 9 Pro can now select images and convert to greyscale (leaving
    pantone).

This custom fixup can be applied to a droplet and your PDFs can be
dropped onto this icon/application locally ...

However, if any images are using Pantone then it's time to use Enfocus
Pitstop for more specific conversions ...

No monies for the upgrade. I tried this with Acrobat 8 and it converts Both CMYK and SPOT to Grayscale on all four plates... C, M, Y, and K. So that doesn't work. Is there a script that does...tell " Adobe Acrobat Professional" Advanced/Print Production/Convert Colors.../ Convert all but spot colors with Profile of Gamma 1.8 and Don't Embed Profile and Preserve Black Objects?.
