Can't control lpi on Laserprinters
Our Apple LaserWriter 8500 has a bad fuser. We use it to print translucent
films from FreeHand files. So we switched to an HP 8500 and an Apple 16/600
neither of which will print my selected lpi. Took the file down to kinkos.
Spent a lot of money to realize the same problem. Working with Macro-Media tech
people. No luck yet. They did have a tech note to turn off photograde. My
photograde option is off, turning it on is grayed.

Re: Can't control lpi on Laserprinters
You can only control lpi with a Postscript printer. Are the printers you're
using Postscript printers?
Which version of FH are you using? Which version of Mac OS?
I had some problems under FHMX/OS X. I'll detail the setup that worked for
me if it would help.

Re: Can't control lpi on Laserprinters
Judy, thanks for taking the time to respond. Yes, I am using PostScript
printers. My FH10 allows me to set any lpi I want . Then it just prints off at
a resolution much finer than requested. I did find a tech note advising me to
turn off photograde option. When I checked this tip out I descovered that my
phograde was off and I did not have the option to turn it on. Anyway no luck
yet.

Re: Can't control lpi on Laserprinters
Are you using the correct PPD for the printer?
On my printer, there is a setting in the Print dialog under Printer FeaturesYou don't say whether you are using OS 9 or OS X. It makes a big difference> Enhanced screens. Make sure this is set to 'None'.
in how you set up your printers and install your PPDs.
