Cant create InnoDB tables - MySQL

    Default Cant create InnoDB tables

    Hi

    Ive just installed MySQL from source (5.0.45) but I cant seem to
    create any InnoDB tables??

    mysql> create table mytable (
    -> data varchar(10)
    -> ) ENGINE = InnoDB;


    mysql> show table status;

    What conditions need to be true to be able to create InnoDB tables?
    Are there any special build conditions?

    "If a storage engine is specified that is not available, MySQL uses the
    default engine instead. Normally, this is MyISAM."
     

    One can compile MySQL w/o InnoDB. Or just put skip-innodb in my.cnf.

    what do you see when your run this cmd:
    show engines;
