Can't delete eps files in Illustrator 10
Sometimes when I'm trying to delete an eps file a window pops up that says it can't be deleted because it's in use. What does this mean and how do I delete the file?

Check apple.com since this is refering to the OS not Illustrator.

Re: Can't delete eps files in Illustrator 10
If it's the same problem I've had, it may be an OS issue, but it only happens with Adobe Illustrator files. Therefore it's worth asking about on the AI Forum, since someone may have a solution.
I haven't figured out why it happens, but on my system it always happens when I've imported the file into QuarkXPress. The way to get the file to delete is to Quit out of Quark, since as long as Quark is open, the system thinks the Illustrator file is in use. It's irritating, so if someone knows an actual fix I'd love to find out about it!

Re: Can't delete eps files in Illustrator 10
Xpress 4 had a bug that did not close image links after importing them, leaving the system think the file was still in use. The fix for this in OS9 was the FixIt xt from Quark. i don't know if the same issue has appeared in newer version of Xpress. Indesign doesn't suffer from this bug.

had an issue with replacing files on network volumes. It was fixed in
10.0.3. Make sure you have the latest updates.

Re: Can't delete eps files in Illustrator 10
I tried closing all the programs and it still won't let me delete the files. It must be an OS issue. If anyone knows how to fix this please let me know!
Thanks!

If you restart your system you can trash the file, right?
Is the file locked in some way?

Re: Can't delete eps files in Illustrator 10
These are "TEMP FILES" that are saved onto the server. It doesn't matter if you restart the computer -- they still cannot be deleted.
I don't have Norton on my computer, so that's not the issue.
I just got done re-formatting my whole computer and that didn't help any.
I'm at a loss. If anyone ever figures this out please let me know.
Thanks
