Can't distill from Quark 7

I have just bought a new iMac and upgraded to Adobe 8 Professional. I have transferred my data from MacPower Book which has Acrobat 7 on it. I have tried distilling .ps files on Acrobat 8 and it just won't work. When I distill the .ps file on old laptop it works a dream.

Please-please can someone help. PS I have transferred all the same fonts, so no new fonts or locations.

There seems to be a clash with your system .dfonts and fonts with the
same name which are not system fonts.

From memory, if you create the PDF with Distiller 7 then it actually
creates a PDF with the incorrect fonts. I seem to think Distiller 8 has
been changed to check-and-flush avoiding the problems.

You might want to double check your font usage from fontbook / suitcase
or whatever your font management application might be?

Re-generate the postscript and try again ...

Are you running Mac OS 10.5? If so, you should update to version 8.1.2, which includes a fix for Distiller.

Hi Kirsten

thanx for the reply. I downloaded 8.1.2 which downloaded Reader 9.0 which I have installed and it doesn't seem to have done the trick. I am quite a novice at all this. SO any further assistance would be much appreciated. By the way I am running OS 10.5.4.

Reader 9.0 doesn't include Distiller, so I doubt that would help you with this issue. Can you launch Acrobat 8 and select Help | Check for Updates? If that doesn't work (Mac OS 10.5 came out after Acrobat 8.0, so updater might not work until you manually patch it to 8.1) you might need to download the necessary patches from Adobe.com under support/downloads somewhere I think. What version of Acrobat 8 are you currently running? If you have 8.0, you'll need to download the 8.1.0, 8.1.1, and 8.1.2 patches.
