Can't edit
We have been editing our homepage for some months in Contribute 3:
www.thegef.org
Suddenly, with no substantial changes having been made, and no changes to the
one script on the page, the Edit button will not respond. All other pages are
still capable of editing.
The page validates as html 4.01 for everything but a handful of missing "alts".
There is no lck file on the server.
The only other noteworthy thing - maybe - is that I overrode the Contribute
check-out in Dreamweaver, but then Dreamweaver offered that possibility.
All ideas are welcome.

Re: Can't edit
what do you mean "the Edit button will not respond"? what error messages are you getting? have you checked with an FTP program that there really are no LCK files on the server?

Re: Can't edit
I have checked that there are no .lck files on the server.
There are also no error messages. I can click on Edit and it responds (at
least graphically) but nothing happens. If the page were locked, I would
presumably receive the usual message that "XYZ is editing this page". I don't.

Re: Can't edit
The following are common causes of this behavior:
-The file is using JavaScript menus that conflict with Contribute. Please
refer to this TechNote with a similar issue:
http://www.macromedia.com/go/18536
-Try removing the following files and see if the trouble persists:
-MMWIP folder (same directory as index.html)
-All files in '_mmct3betaWIPMetaData' folder

Re: Can't edit
Very interesting, thanks. I'll have a look at that. The odd thing is that there
have been no changes to the script, and at some stage the facility to edit was
regained. However, I'll check that out and bear it in mind for the event that
the problem crops up again.

Can't edit
I have a user who created some new pages and saved them for later. She wants to
make changes to them but when she clicks on Edit, nothing happens. She can edit
pages that have already been published without a problem. Any suggestions?

Re: Can't edit
Ron,
Does your user see the files in the Sidebar? Select View > Sidebar if the side
bar is not visible. The files should be in the top section of the Sidebar. Can
they select the file from there and have it display?

Can't Edit
When I try to edit a page on Contriute CS3 I get the message "allready editing
on another computer" I clidk the "here" and the message goes away. I then hit
edit and the same message comes up. I deactivated Contribute on the other
computer but that didn't help. Oh yeah, this is on a Mac using 10.5
