Default Can't Edit Page

I am trying to edit a page on my website. But there is a pop-up message saying
"You can not edit this page because Moakes@e-cca.org is currently editing it".
Well, I AM Moakes@e-cca.org. I do not have any unpublished drafts. Why do I
get this message?

Default Can't edit page

I'm trying to edit a page but get the error "You can't edit this page because
it wasn't found in the website", which is possibly one of the stupider errors
I've ever seen since the page is being displayed correctly, so obviously it was
found by Contribute. Any ideas?

What is the URL of this page? It might be some kind of virtual directory, or a server redirect.

I would talk to your administrator, if its not you, yourself.

Default Can't edit page

When I select "edit page", it apears to be saving a draft of the page for me to edit, but when it opens, it always opens to a blank home page. How can I fix this myself?

I am also getting the same spinning Pizza of Death. Is it an issue that
Contribute has with Tiger? I cannot edit any page. the same thing happens
when I try to copy an existing page. And when I try to create a new page it
comes up with "an unknown error has occured" instantly, before it even looks
online or whatever which leads me to believe it's a problem with the program.

Default Can't edit page

Hi,

I've been experiencing problems with a client who I have installed Contribute
2 (but now just upgraded to 3) with permissions. We have 2 connections to the
clients web site (one at our office, and one at the clients) but the client
keeps getting "You can't edit this page because "the office connection" is
editing it. This happens even if I am not logged in or editing the site, but it
only happens on some pages.

How do I resolve this because I've just upgraded hoping this would sort it out
but it hasn't, please help!

Are you using Dreamweaver?
Which version?

AND=
Are you checking back in any files you work on?
If you leave a file checked out to you- then it's locked for the contribute
user, they can't edit it till you check it back in.

open the F8 Site Manager.
Dw menu-->Site-->Site File View-->Select Checked Out Files.

then click Check In button.

yeah you need to make sure all files are published on your end. If you have
drafts, then they can't edit those pages until you publish your drafts. You can
go in using FTP and delete the .LCK files as well, by the way.

I'm having same problems. Running Tiger. Contribute 3.11. Click on Edit (in any
webiste that I have previously had no trouble editing), and it starts to create
draft, than hangs, spinning beach ball... I have to force quit. Adobe NO help!
Macromedia has dropped the ball!

Don't hold your breath.

Uninstall the POS update and reinstall 3.0. It will work fine through OS
10.4.4.

The really good news is that Apple just released (with iLife '06) a better
product that will NEVER have the issues that consistently plague Macromedia and
Mac users.

I just purchased a version of Contribute and am not very impressed... Not only
did it take a long time for the program to verify my ftp information but it
seems to hang (and yes the spinning pizza of death appears) when connecting to
the website. -I have not even been in editing mode yet. I would appreciate any
advice on what to do.

Default can't edit page

I have always been able to get into my website with Contribute to do some minor
editing, additions, etc. so that my IT person did not have to do it......the
problem is I have a new website person, she cleaned up a page on my website
that had the margins screwy from my editing it. Ever since, the page looks
great in browser, but when I go to Edit, only the "header" shows up -- there is
no "body" on the page.......what can I do please?

I have a similar problem in contribute 3.1.1.

I can edit every page except the home page. It looks normal in the browser but
when I click edit, I get a basically blank page with an empty box at the top.
The box is white and the body has a blue color to it.

I have been able to edit the home page in the past.

Are you sure the person who did the 'cleaning up', really knew what he or
she was doing? It's just a matter of 'cleaning' up some comment lines,
before the editable areas will also vanish.

How we solved the same problem:

I discovered another thread which indicated a couple of solutions. One
referenced an extra template tag but we had none of those. The other solution
written up was:

I have found that incorrect include paths can cause display problems with
contribute. If the include files themselves aren't done properly (e.g. opening
and closing <html> and <body> tags within multiple includes on a page which
would result in multiple opening and closing <html> and <body> tags on the
"main" page) the display in the Contribute browser can be inconsistent with the
draft of the same page when editing. Hope this helps. Cheers

When i forwarded this info to my web guy, he found that:

There was an extra </div> tag after the section where you update the rotating
ads.

He removed it "manually" and the page looked proper when creating a draft.
Seems like it was an easy fix once he knew what to look for.

I would also like to point out to anyone from Adobe (clearly they rarely read
any of these posts) as well as other readers, that it has been nearly two weeks
since I a created an online tecnhical case asking for assistance. After a week
of waiting, I created a customer service case asking how long it takes to get a
response. Neither case has been answered by Adobe.

Adobe has little interest in assisting their customer it would seem.

Other extra ending tags will cause that problem. And missing ones, too. Contribute in editing mode is not as forgiving as browser mode of bad code.
