Can't edit this page because Macromedia Contribute iscurrently using it
This is only happening in our home page of our website. If I go to edit page
nothing happens, so I go to edit in External Source and I get this message
"Can't edit this page because Macromedia Contribute is currently using it"
We recently signed up with Forms Experts for our reservation form and it has a
database, so wondering if this is causing the problem? I am the only user in
this program and I have no other drafts open.
Seems like this is a different message then other people are getting.
Please help me as I need to edit our homepage!
Thanks,
Linda

Re: Can't edit this page because Macromedia Contributeis currently using it
Also, I saw where you could enter in the .LCK on the current page in Contribute
at the end and then go to file and delete page. When I type in the .LCK at the
end of the home page it brings up the page "index.htm.lck" and says this file
cannot be displaded in Contribute web browser" so ignoring this I go to file
and to delete and it says "are you sure you want to permantely delete this web
page, deleting it may cause broken links on your website" so I stop and say no
fearing I will delete my home page.

Re: Can't edit this page because Macromedia Contributeis currently using it
Deleting the .LCK file will not delete the main page and it will not cause
broken links.
The only thing to consider is that the lock-file may be placed there because
someone else has a draft saved on his computer or checked out the file in
Dreamweaver. If you checked this, there is no problem in deleting the .LCK file.
If you still doubt this, back up your page, so you can always replace it
afterwards.

Re: Can't edit this page because Macromedia Contributeis currently using it
As I said no one else has access to our website, I am the only one that has the
computer or access to Contribute.
I did happen to go into our FTP and found a file under our HTML that is
actually our title to our second page of website and it has LCK at the end of
it. It says "ratesreservationspolicies.htm.lck. Do you know if a lock anywhere
like this would prevent me from editing our home page only? I can edit the
second page, and all the rest, just not the home page.

Re: Can't edit this page because Macromedia Contributeis currently using it
I also forgot to mention that I gave our Forms company permission to go into our FTP and delete out an old form that we used to use on our website. Could this maybe be why this lck got put on??

Re: Can't edit this page because Macromedia Contributeis currently using it
Hi,
LCK file is created when the page is being edited. This LCK file is used to
lock the file so that only one instance can edit the page in one time. Now that
you are not able to edit the index page and that a lck file has been created,
it implies that the page is being edited by someone else. In order to make the
page editable, Could you please remove the lck file say index.html.lck file.
Any changes the other user had made will be discarded and the vpublished
version of the page will be available as latest.
Hope this helps.
Thanks.

Re: Can't edit this page because Macromedia Contributeis currently using it
Hi,
So even though nobody but myself edits our website with the exception of one
person who went into our FTP and deleted an old form which was on the second
page of our website, not the home page, this would but a lock on the home
page?? Why would it not lock out the second page where the old form was?? I
can edit any of the other pages just not the home page. Even when I look into
my FTP I find the lck is on the second page which I can edit?? That is what is
confusing to me.
Thanks,
Linda

OK that's confusing, but did you remove the .lck on the second page?

Re: Can't edit this page because Macromedia Contributeis currently using it
No I have not removed any lck as of yet, I need to download a FTP program to do
this first. Any suggestions? I actually went in again last night to my FTP to
look and found another .LCK so there are two showing up in FTP. They are both
in the HTML bin. Around the time that I placed a new form from Form Experts on
the actually 3rd page I said 2nd but it is the 3rd. So now I have two .lck's
showing up in FTP one says index.htm.lck and the other says
ratesreservationspolicies.htm.lck but that page is okay.
I also was checking last night also, and found where Contribute has an update
of 3.1 to version 3.0 which has the ability to unlock?? I tried to download it
but was not quite sure where to download it other then to Contribute, they do
not tell you exactly where to download it.
Thanks,
Linda

Re: Can't edit this page because Macromedia Contributeis currently using it
Just wanted everyone to know that I have Contribute 3, so I found a spot in
Adobe to fix the problem to download 3.11 to fix these problems. I did that and
then went into Administer and to manage sent drafts and you can then take the
lock off that way. So all is fine now.
But just in case someone else has problems.
