Default Can't insert Fireworks HTML in Dreamweaver

I created a popup menu in Fireworks MX 2004 and exported the html and images, but I am getting this prompt "The selected file is not the correct format. Please select and HTML file that was exported from Fireworks", but I am doing just that and it won't open. What is the problem?

    Thanks,
    Megan

    Megan:

Did you "import" the Navigation Popup Menu or did you try to "open" it?
If you want to insert a Fireworks Popup Menu into your existing
(Dreamweaver) document you can import it using the Dreamweaver feature.
This is done in the following manner:

    For Dreamweaver MX:

Menu > Insert > Interactive Images > Fireworks HTML

    For Dreamweaver MX 2004

Menu > Insert > Image Objects > Fireworks HTML

Make sure you use the import feature. Then again, your problem may have
a different cause. I just wanted to provide you with these methods as
this is the usual method it is done.

    Megan:

Which DW are you using? If it is DMX, then you will have to edit the FW
HTML to have it properly import into DMX. If it's DMX2004, then I'm not
    sure what's going on.

Are you *certain* you want to use these pop-up menus, and do you know the
    problems with them?

I did just that, I exported the html that I created in Fireworks, went and opened the page that I wanted to insert it in to in Dreamweaver by going to Menu > Insert > Interactive Images > Fireworks HTML and then clicked on the page and then I got the message that it wasn't correct file. So I'm not sure what I did wrong?

I can't help you with this one anymore.
You have two options than seem viable right now:

    1) Wait for backup (other posters who might help out)
    2) Repost this in the Dreamweaver forum as there are more tech savvy
people who know a whole lot more of HTML than most of us here do (I
    presume that is).

Optionally, you could contact Macromedia Tech support if you meet the
    needed requirements (are registered etc.).

Follow the advice from this page onwards:

The people here who are trying to help you arn't even investigating in this problem...all you have to do is make sure you are exporting your navigation bar as an html and images...not anything else like css and images because then it will bring up that window while you are trying to import it onto Dreamweaver.
