    Default Can't open illustrator 9 files in cs

    When I try to open my illustrator 9 ai-files in Illustrator cs, I get a message that say's it's " ..... an unknowned format and cannot be opened"

    Kim,

    What happens if you try to Place the file into a new layout? (you'll have to *.* or *.ai to view the files in the Place Menu). Does this occur to all your version 9 files or just selected ones? What format?

    you could also do this:
    If you still have Illustrator 9 installed in you PC open it there and "save as" a new file name or in top of itself. It could be the documment itself is corrupted and by re-saving it might fix by re saving it. if that still dosent work you can open the document copy the art work and paste in to a new page and save it, then try opening it in Illustrator CS.
