    Default Can't Open/Import Acrobat 6.0 PDFs

    Hi all

I am using FH MX Ver 11.0.1, and I'm unable to open or import PDF files
created with Acrobat 6.0 Professional. I just get a blank document.

Open/import works fine with PDFs created with Acrobat 4 (and perhaps 5?).

    Any ideas?

    Simon

Does the PDF contain spot colors? There's a known issue described in this
technote (watch text wrap of link):

    Hi Judy

No, spot colors are not included. Even a simple PDF containing only text
will not display in FH if it was created with Acrobat 6.0 Pro.

The technote refers to Mac OS - I am using Windows XP Pro.

I find it necessary to open the PDF in Illustrator 10 and save as an AI7
file. FHMX can usually open that.

On some files, I can save from Illustrator as a PDF 4, with 'Preserve
Illustrator editing' checked. I believe this embeds and AI file. I don't
know if this would work for all files.

In Acrobat 6 there's Advanced > PDF optimizer which will optimize back to
PDF 4 format compatibility. I haven't had any luck getting an 'optimized'
PDF into FHMX with the settings I've tried. It might clean up some files,
depending on the settings. It would certainly be worth a try when working
    with a multi-page PDF.
