can't place an IL CS eps in Freehand

Using Windows XP, Illustrator CS

I am exporting a very simple file from IL CS as a Legacy EPS file. When I import or open this in Freehand 10 it is not in vector format and I can't touch the elements of my drawing. Why is this?

I need to be able to provide people with an .eps that they can open/place in earlier versions of IL or Freehand.

Suggestions anyone?

Julia,

Freehand will see only the EPS preview which is not editiable as vector (apart from resizing or rotating). I would recommend saving as a legacy ai file instead for that manner (Illustrator 8 is my choice).

Yossi, thanks for the reply. I understand what you mean.

Separate issue: if I have to provide someone an editable vector file, I can't give them an EPS unless they have some version of illustrator? I have to provide them with an illustrator legacy file for them to be able to touch the vector elements?

Julia,

I think the correct approach would be to send files as a legacy AI files. I know Freehand and Corel Draw will handle them fine (vector editing).
