cant seem to open layers window!

Hi,

My name is Laura and for some bizzare reason, I can not seem to open the layers window, it just won't show up on my screen. I keep going to Windows> then Layers and nothing happens. I have Windows XP on my computer and I own a Toshiba Satellite laptop. The version of Adobe Illustrator I have is 10.0. I've definitely been able to use the Layers Window before, but today it just doesn't want to show up on my screen. Will somebody please help me? Thank you!

you need to delete your AIPrefs file. Search this forum for instructions.

I'm sorry, but I'm very new at this user to user forum. I have tried searching the forum.... I click on the top where it says, Search the forum and type in a keyword (delete AlPrefs file) and it keeps bringing me back to the message that i posted earlier. I'm really sorry, but I'm a bit confused, Thank you.

I actually did find the forum for deleting AIPrefs file, and I did delete the file, but it doesn't work. I still can't get the layers window to show up on my work area. What else could possibly be wrong??

Get the update to 10.0.3.

Before doing that, try deleting the aiprefs file. Details here:

Did you have Illustrator closed when you deleted it?

Yes I am pretty sure I had illustrator closed when I deleted the file.
