Can't share files since Jaguar upgrade
My iBook has been running 10.2.6 for some time, and has always connected
flawlessly with my G4 over ethernet, whether the G4 was booted into
9.2.2 or 10.1.5.
Then I finally decided that it was time to upgrade the G4, and brought
it up to 10.2.6 as well. Pretty well everything has been smooth, but now
when I try to connect to the G4 from my iBook (using an admin user ID to
get full access) the login fails. As far as I can tell everything is
properly enabled at the G4 end, and I am using the right user ID and
password. I can turn on Windows file sharing and connect that way, but
it is a poor second choice.
Can anyone suggest things I should try?

like re-laoding the OS. First, make sure all the filesharing settings
are right on the G4. I'd also try deleting users, and creating new ones
for filesharing purposes. Also, have you run disk utility and repaired
permissions? I read somewhere (maybe MacAddict) that this is a good idea
after any OS X upgrade/update.

I have discovered that if I restart the G4 I can connect to it for a
while. But after it has gone to sleep a few times (especially over
night) I can no longer connect. I have not yet tried running MacJanitor
to see if that cleans things up.

when the hard drive went to sleep on my server it prevented me from
connecting. Just set the HD to not got to sleep and you should be able
to then connect to your server anytime you want.
