Can't successfully update Acrobat 8.1.2
Hi,
I have CS3 installed on Mac Leopard and I'm having trouble running the updater (Help -> Check for Updates). My concern is prompted by the latest CERT advisory regarding Acrobat, but the problem really affects any CS3 update (but there doesn't seem to be any generic CS3 forum).
The updater goes through the checking phase and starts into the download phase, trying to download an update to the Adobe Updater and gets a "The following components could not be downloaded" error. The component is the Updater itself and the error is: "You're resuming a download, but the file on the server has changed." I presume it means what it says, but how to I get past the error?
Thanks,
Rob

Re: Can't successfully update Acrobat 8.1.2
Hey Rob,
Just got the same message here today when I tried updating the machines I manage at work. Seems like Adobe placed a bad installer on the server. CS3 Updater quits after the failed Updater update (!) so any other updates can't take place. Hope it gets a fix fairly soon.

Re: Can't successfully update Acrobat 8.1.2
I am having a similar problem. When I run the updater, it says "The following components cold not be downloaded. Select a component for more details." I click on Adobe Updater, and the Details box says: "You're resuming a download, but the file on the server has changed."
I'm running Acrobat Pro 8. I've downloaded the 8.1.3 patch from the ftp site, and using the link posted above. Neither of those updaters will update.
When I do go to update, it opens a window that asks me to select the product I wish to update, but all of the Adobe products listed are faded and not clickable.
Platform is MacBook Pro.

Re: Can't successfully update Acrobat 8.1.2
Tom,
I'm also on a MacBook Pro and running Leopard (10.5.5). The manual update process did work for me (nothing was dimmed out). As far as I know, the patch is specific for 8.1.2. For the sake of exactness, are you running 8.1.2 or something earlier? In that case you might need to install the previous upgrades first. If that's not the case, could your problem possibly be a local permissions problem?
Good luck.

Re: Can't successfully update Acrobat 8.1.2
This issue seems to be resolved now, I just downloaded the Updater update and subsequent Acrobat 8.1.3 update without any problems.
