    Default Catalog and search

Using v6 Pro I have a title file linking to two contents pages with several hundred pdfs in various chapters below. I have created an index using catalog and included the correct directories, but when using search in the top file (the title page) it doesn't seem to have an option to use the index, just search the current pdf or all pdfs in a specific directory.

The top file and the pdx are in the same main directory with the sub-directories and the index directory beneath.

In v5 and previous versions you used to link the file to the index, but there doesn't seem an option for that now.

Any suggestions for where I'm going wrong?

It's still there, Chris ... it's just that, like so many other features in version 6, they've moved it.

Open the PDF file you want the index linked to, then click FILE > DOCUMENT PROPERTIES > ADVANCED. top section of the gray dialog box that comes up says "PDF Settings" ... the second item in that top box is SEARCH INDEX. Browse and 'deposit' your applicable index there.

I feel your pain ... after using Acrobat since version 3, it is maddening to me how much they fooled around with in version 6, and the changed locations are not always intuitive or value added!

Very bad software design IMO, and also bad for Adobe Corp, in that the volunteers who come here, if they are more familiar with older versions, will find their ability to help impeded by the fact that they may no longer know where everything is or even what it is called any more.
