catch Error output - Microsoft SQL / MS SQL Server

Hi all, Does anyone know how to capture the error result description, NOT THE ERRORID which I can do via error. i.e. Server: Msg 2812, Level 16, State 4, Line 1 Stored procedure 'dbname..spname' not found. If I just use the errorid and join onto sysmessages then I dont get the complete output as the dbname and spnames, tablenames etc are not populated. Any help would be aprecaited. Thanks in advance Immy...

    Hi Immy.

This can't be done within the T-SQL language presently. Many people ask for
it, but unfortunately right now the only answer is that you can only catch
the full message (with wildcards completed) in the client API (eg VB/C etc).

You can get the skeleton for the message from master..sysmessages, but I'm
assuming you want the full (completed) message..

Thats Correct Greg and I had a feeling this was the case.
Oh well, I'll have to go with the skeleton messages until MS develop this
feature.... hopefully Yukon will have it!

    Thanks
