external one, their internal one works fine in my Ultra 80.
I don't think the modern machines require the 512 bytes/sector that
the older machines did, so that should give you a lot more choice.

It runs at 44/24/44, and given the appropriate cable should
do swell with the Blade2000 and cdrecord. I've got the 16/10/40
version on my U60 and it's excellent.
