central alignment of 2 objects
Hi folks,
I'm using Illustrator 10 on Windows XP. How would I go about aligning 2 object centrally without moving both of them? I have 1 of them already aligned the way I would like it to fit with the rest of the image but can't seem to align another object to it's center without moving the 1st object from where I want it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Robert

Re: central alignment of 2 objects
Robert,
here's a neat trick I learnt a while ago from reading these forums.
Use the Black selection tool (V) to select all of the objects you want to align, then click once more on the object you want to stay put, and then click the Align Centre option in the Align Palette.
All of the objects will align with the one you clicked last.

Re: central alignment of 2 objects
david thanks for the tip.
am using Illustrator 10 (win) and i found the operation a bit different.
1) - select all objects with selection tool (V).
2) - the holding the (CTRL) key, click on the object you would like the rest of the objects to align too.
3) - the press center align.
the holding the (CTRL) key is my humble addition to your advice. i am using WIN version so maybe the MAC version you do not have to hold the (CRTL).
thanks again for the tip david.

Re: central alignment of 2 objects
I have IL 10(.0.3.), and in my case the ctrl key is not necessary to click-establish the anchor object.
See page 121 of the IL 10 manual, or search online help with the keyword 'align' and read the first topic returned.
