Certificate Questions
I was going to use the Certificate example in Illustrate for one to present at work... but, ran into a few things I had trouble with:
1) Wanted to change color use in the Certificate -it's resisting all trys.
2) Found the same certificate example in InDesign, managed to change the color; but, found that item was set to 11.5 inch paper and when I tried to shaved that 1/2 inch off I got a 1/2 gap in the Border ... pulling the path markers together did no cure (flipped the border up and backwards to the border itself... and not the right size to fill the gap anyway <sigh>
One person in the InDesign forum (I asked there before I found the certificate form was made in Illustrator) suggested that I hold down the Control Key while I pulled the end to close the gap - did cure/help/fix...
Can anyone help me with changing the color used and more about closing the path for the border when I resize the Certificate? Thanks

Re: Certificate Questions
Which certificate and what object?
Try expanding the apperance of what you are trying to change the color on.
Object-->Expand

Re: Certificate Questions
Hmmm, I am not on the computer with Illustrator CS; but, from memory, there were 3 Certificates, the one I wanted to modify was the 3rd one (green border) -like an award certificate. Trying to change the predominately green color certificate to a blue...
And the object (and path) that I was having trouble with is the border (the fancy design) gave me grief in InDesign... but, hoping to tame it here and convert to a 11 inch page.
Will go switch over to and try the Object>Expand (grab the name too)
Thanks Phillip - Appreciate the thing to try - Tom

Re: Certificate Questions
I'm not sure where you are seeing green on the #3 certificate. My border is brown. #! has a green Brush border, so you'd have to open the Brush palette, drag the Brush onto your screen in a blank place and change it's color as you would any object, then drag it back onto the palette being sure to pick the proper identity for type of brush. You can make the border into any type you wish by using either a standard brush or making one of your own. You can make it larger or smaller as you would with any path. No need to expand to do any of this, bye the way.

Re: Certificate Questions
Bob's way works as well. I think Thomas might have been thinking about the green on cert #1.

Re: Certificate Questions
Bob, new to this -I thought with the object highlighted (border) I could change the color -didn't realize I had to change a brush (blush)
Also, tried pulling the 'ends' of the path together to eliminate the gap that developes if you make the certificate 11 inches to fit on normal paper ... pulling the path ends (with or without modifiers) did nothing for the gap... going for phillips Expand next (I am not good enought to make a new border myserf yet <sigh>
Yoo guys (and all the other Gurus) are so good - Thanks ALL!
(am working on a something to upload to contribute back)
Tom
btw - the dang cert had two different names and positions:
IN
Illustrator (1st):
Certificate 1.ait
IN
InDesign(3rd):
CERT3-IS-NKT-NON.indt
Seems to Orginated in Illustrator so I am going to try to develope to amke a new template there for my use.
