Ok, progress has been made. From what I can see if you make an invalid web
service invocation, say, you pass the wrong number of parameters, or the other
side is down, etc, CF somehow caches that response. After trying to debug my
problem for a couple of hours we decided to punt the ColdFusion service. Made
the request again with no code changes, and lo and behold it worked.
CF is rock solid baby!

I'm still having issues, we dropped the effort for a while but have now picked
it back up. Can you take a look at this post and let me know if you were able
to get an HTTPS web services call working?
