CF and Windows Server 2003 x64 Edition - Coldfusion Server Administration

In order to get CF 7 and I'm assuming CF 6.1 running under Windows Server 2003 x64 Edition, you may have to do the following: 1. Open a command prompt (Start, Run, Input CMD press ENTER) 2. Go to C:\Inetpub\AdminScripts or D:\Inetpub\AdminScripts (the AdminScripts folder where IIS is installed) 3. Run the following command, cscript.exe adsutil.vbs set W3SVC/AppPools/Enable32BitAppOnWin64 1 4. Run IISReset to restart IIS 5. CF and CF Admin should now work. It would be really great for someone at Adobe/Macromedia to test this and then put it in a FAQ. More people are running Windows Server 2003 x64 ...

    1. Open a command prompt (Start, Run, Input CMD press ENTER)

    4. Run IISReset to restart IIS
    5. CF and CF Admin should now work.

It would be really great for someone at Adobe/Macromedia to test this and then
put it in a FAQ. More people are running Windows Server 2003 x64 Edition and I
know other people are asking about this.

Also, I asked some in Product Support/Customer Support to add "Windows Server
2003 x64 Edition" to the list of supported OS's over a month ago. Not sure why
    this hasn't been done.

Perhaps because it isn't supported ?

Coldfusion is a complex product running on a complex technology stack. I have
to wonder if its not as easy as changing to wow64 mode ?

ColdFusion is complex like most things, however, it would be more accurate to
    say that Java is complex.

x64 should be supported, it is becoming standard play in new servers.

Their is a version of the 1.5 JVM for x64 which should have certain
optmizations. The long in Java is 64 bits which alone could give big speed ups
doing operations if ColdFusion happens to use them.

The other thing is recompiling the IIS connectors to run in 64 bit mode. At
least Macromedia *cough* Abobe should give people a time line. Heck they should
be pysced about getting in x64 if there is any performance gains to be
    had/advertise with.

x64 would not require a lot of work to do, and the Macromedia team should have
been playing with it since beta 1 that came out a long time ago to be ready by
now, several months after the release.
