CF MX 7 and MySQL - problem with UTF-8 character set - Macromedia ColdFusion

Hello, I have problem with UTF-8 character support. I'm using ColdFusion MX 7 and MySQL 4.1.7. I need UTF-8 support because I'm using german characters and as well as other unicode chars. I'm using CF scripts to insert data into database, but I'm able to insert only first part of data before first appearance of nonstandard character. For example, if my data is "Xyz?bcd" system will insert only "Xyz" and thats all. Also, I'm trying to use CFMyAdmin, but the situation is same. I have tried with PHPMyAdmin and works FINE. From PHPMyAdmin I can insert, update and select data ...

Default CF MX 7 and MySQL - problem with UTF-8 character set

    Hello,

I have problem with UTF-8 character support. I'm using ColdFusion MX 7 and
    MySQL 4.1.7.

I need UTF-8 support because I'm using german characters and as well as other
unicode chars. I'm using CF scripts to insert data into database, but I'm able
to insert only first part of data before first appearance of nonstandard
character. For example, if my data is "Xyz?bcd" system will insert only "Xyz"
    and thats all.

Also, I'm trying to use CFMyAdmin, but the situation is same.

I have tried with PHPMyAdmin and works FINE. From PHPMyAdmin I can insert,
update and select data and everything works ok.

When I try to make SELECT and to show it in CF page, I can see unwelcomed "?"
characters for data which I have inserted with PHPMyAdmin (although in
PHPMyAdmin I can see it correctly).

I have tried several methods but have not success.

    Please help,
    Thanks in advance,
    D.

first off does that version of mysql actually support unicode? next what db
    driver are you using?

you should be using the JDBC driver. assuming that, on that DSN did you add
    "useUnicode=true&characterEncoding=UTF-8" as a connection string?

Solved for me too. Thanks, Paul. I was going a little nuts trying to figure this out.
