CFDIRECTORY/CFFILE - Macromedia ColdFusion

I am using CFFILE to upload images to the server. I assume I can create folders/directories on the server using CFDIRECTORY. How can I create unique identities for each folder and make sure that the uploaded images go into that unique named folder? I also want to create an entry into a database. Please help!!!!:disgust;...

You can create directories as you say, with names that you the developer
specify literally to be unique. If you want to generalize the creation of
unique names, a part of the name or path can be a unique variable. Examples
could be a user-ID or related code; departmental ID or related code; or even
the time of day including the second. Upon successful upload, you can simply
insert a log record with whatever information you want into a logging table.
You will probably want to limit the size and type of file you upload. You can
do this using the 'accept' param of cffile; the webserver software must also be
set to allow the mimetypes you want to allow. -keyman
