CFIDE Virtual Directory on every website?
I have upgraded from 4.5 to 6.1, I use Windows Server 2003. My CFusionMX folder
is on the C: drive. My websites are on the D: drive along with the CFIDE folder.
Before, when I added a cfform tag the javascript just worked.
Now, as I think I understand, I have to add a virtual directory for every
website I host to point to the cfide folder?
Or is there a better way to do this? Am I missing something.
Thanks in advance for your insight,

Re: CFIDE Virtual Directory on every website?
I've never had to work with that folder in particular but if your sites are
located somewhere other than the web directory (it really depends on how you
set up CF) then you have to create a virtual directory in IIS.
When i installed Cf i placed it into the IIS bin and my dev sites are on my D
drive. For every site I work on I have to set up a virtual directory for them
in IIS.
Hope that helps.

Re: CFIDE Virtual Directory on every website?
You can also re-run the connectors for cfmx in the cfusion\bin\connectors directory, which will automatically do this for all sites (I think :-) )

Re: CFIDE Virtual Directory on every website?
Is having the Administrator now avaiable through all my websites a good thing.
Now that I have the cfide folder set up as a virtual directory, it's now on
every website. I was hoping it would only be on the webserver to reduce the
potential for hacking. Is this the proper way to set up cfide? Is there a
better way to do this? I have been searching and searching for an anser for
days.

Re: CFIDE Virtual Directory on every website?
You CAN map the scripts directory etc by hand, but then graphing and new cfform
functionality can go missing. Best thing to do is to set access to CFIDE to
all sites and then IP restrict the administrator/adminapi directories to you.
That way all the mappings are in place for everything you need.
This is how we run a large server hosting several sites. We map all with
CFIDe and restrict acess to the administrator directory to us.

Re: CFIDE Virtual Directory on every website?
Thanks for your reply. Now, can you explain this for dummies? Is this a
function of CF by using the Administrator or by the server. I just learned how
to add virtual directories to all my sites, I am afraid you are over my head
with IP restrictions.
Yet another reason I am very frustrated with this upgrade. Why so many more
steps to get what used to work to work again. Is all this a security thing or
what? I would love for someone to tell me.
Any way, I appreciate your help. Maybe if you could just point me in the right
direction.
Thanks,

Re: CFIDE Virtual Directory on every website?
Thanks for your reply. You pointed me in the right direction and after several
tries of uninstalling and reinstalling I finally got this to work and map
virtual directories to all me websites. Still not sure how smart that is. I
don't like having the Administrator so available. I am going to try and find
out how to better secure this part of the CFIDE folder. I am hoping HairyDude
might be able to give me some more input. Otherwise, I am hoping others might
have mercy on me who have been through this mine field and help...
Have a great day,
